Roll Ups Advice

25 Apr 2020 by Gary Smith

G’day Everyone,

We didn’t think we would be writing to you again, so soon, but we have received some GOOD NEWS.

The following information was taken from the Qld government website and referred to on the OLGR update dated last Wednesday, 22nd April 2020.

Continued operation of sporting clubs
While sporting clubs that hold liquor licenses can no longer serve alcohol for onsite consumption,
the club’s sporting activities are still permitted, provided social distancing requirements are met.

Lawn bowls clubs

The Chief Health Officer (CHO) advises that people can play lawn bowls, since it’s considered physical exercise, but only:

on their own

with a family group who live in the same house

with no more than 1 other person, who they don’t ordinarily live with. This also applies to other outdoor sporting-based activities.

The CHO recommendation remains that players over 60 should remain at home.

Given this information, your steering committee has discussed the situation and has agreed to open the greens with the following stipulations, which MUST BE STRICTLY ADHERED TO :-

Entry will only be via the sliding door adjacent to the Games Room.

All bowlers must check in with Robyn, before collecting mats and jacks.

A gold coin donation tin will be situated near the entry.

There is a limit of 2 people per rink and 1 mat and 1 jack per rink.

As there is a limit to the number of bowlers we can allow at any one time, you must book a time to play.

There will be 2 sessions per day – 10.00am – 12.00pm and 12.00pm – 2.00pm

Play will only be on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

To book your desired session you must call the Club on 0492 045 510

Roll ups at all other times are forbidden.

Bowlers, this is great news as it gets us out of the house to do a bit of exercise.

Please be aware that any infringement of the above rules may jeopardise these rights.

If that occurs we would be in breech of the department and would have to close it down for everyone.

Remember to keep your distances – 1.5 metres, stay safe and wash your hands.

We look forward to seeing you on the green.

Your Committee.
